2023 Masters QLD State Tiltes

Published: March 02, 2023

The 2022-23 Masters State Titles at Mooloolaba saw sunny blue skies, storm squalls, rain and glassy two foot waves. Our team of 17 competitors did the club proud across a range of events including women’s surf teams, male taplin's, board rescues, ski events, irons, beach sprints etc.

There were many standout performances, such as Ian Norman rocking up to his ironman event to grab silver, then closing the day with a bronze in the 1km beach run. Or Anne McGill, our Treasurer, powering through soft sand to secure a 2nd place in her 1km beach run and Jake H placing third in his 2km run. Rob W was non-stop all day in multiple team and individual water events. Our younger competitors (Josh, Jake and Kirk) earned the respect of everyone - adding multiple points for Coolum and Josh F came away with a gold and Kirk M a silver. Emma Rahui scored a gold in her beach sprint final.  Karolin B, our newest member to the female team, helped the team secure a silver in the 170 beach relay.  Not to forget, Jodie W and Heidi D who were first across the line in the female board rescue, after Jodie W finished with a silver in a tightly fought board race.  Well done to Ross who showed skill and endurance as he made his way through to semi's and then to his ski finals, placing 9th out of 27 in the 45-49 category.

Support Coolum Surf Club

Not ready to become part of Coolum Surf Club but still want to help?

It takes a lot of money to run a surf lifesaving club; from the equipment needed on the beach (vehicles, boards, IRBs, first aid kits, defibrillators etc) to administration and training to facilitate patrolling.

So if you can't join us, support us through one of the following options.

Coolum Beach SLSC Nippers

Does your child want to become a Nipper?

Looking for a fun summer sport where your kids will learn essential surf safety skills, gain confidence in the ocean, and meet new friends?

Coolum Nippers is the answer! Nippers run from the September school holidays to February/March and is open to kids from 5 to 12 yrs.

Not only will they learn surf safety and what surf lifesaving is all about, but also have the opportunity to compete in carnivals and have mid-week training to improve their skills.
