Cadet's SLS Operations Excursion

Published: January 18, 2024

Our Cadets kicked the day off with a visit to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Hanger at Caloundra Airport.

"It was fascinating to get up close to the aircraft, go inside the chopper, and have the crew walk us through their daily routines, operations, equipment, and rescue techniques. Witnessing this left us with an understanding of their vital role in coastal rescue, leaving us with an appreciation for their work"

Following the helicopter experience, they dove into a Go-Karting session at Landsborough.

While the rain added an extra element of challenge and excitement, everyone had a blast navigating the slippery track. Some spun out and others opted for a slower pace, but overall, it was a great time.

They then had a well-deserved lunch at the Mooloolaba Spit, after a quick play in the park.

To finish off the day, they visited Surf Com in Mooloolaba and were subjected to the behind-the-scenes look at how Surf Com operates.

"Witnessing the intricacies and efforts ensuring our Lifesaving efforts run smoothly and efficiently was a perfect conclusion to an awesome day"

Thank you to the Chaperones on the day (Els & Simon), and to the Youth Officer for organising (who unfortunately couldn't make it on the day)

Everyone had a great time and it was really appreciated!

Not ready to become part of Coolum Surf Club but still want to help?

It takes a lot of money to run a surf lifesaving club; from the equipment needed on the beach (vehicles, boards, IRBs, first aid kits, defibrillators etc) to administration and training to facilitate patrolling.

So if you can't join us, support us through one of the following options.
