Congratulations Kate Tomba - Michael Rutledge Recipient 2023

Kate was awarded the Michael Rutledge Award, which recognises long term contribution to the Surf Boat section.

She is a passionate Surf Boat rower and often goes unrecognised for her work as she doesn't hold an official role, but not a lot would happen without her.

She cares for everyone, does the extra 10% without mention or expectation, and fosters others, especially the youth, in a way that makes them feel safe and encourages them to flourish. Kate is always on the lookout for new members, and has a life history in the club. 

Along with being an athlete, she has been part of many rescues and is versatile in her skills in the IRB vessel too. She is a long service member and a proud Coolum member. She spends time with her family at the club almost everyday, just like her sister and dad. She is central to a huge amount of sponsorship, and is known by people and businesses in Coolum.

Kate has a huge amount of energy, natural athleticism, she is powerful, capable, with a big heart.
