Surf Life Saver Profile - 45

Published: May 04, 2024

Welcome Darcy Smith and thanks for sharing with us

So let’s get deep and meaningful straight up

Q – How long have you been in Coolum Surf Life Saving Club and what motivated you to volunteer your time?

I joined the Club last year and it’s my first patrol season.  I’d heard great things about the Club and was looking to fill some free time and meet some new people and make friends.

Q – Is your experience so far what you thought it would be?

It’s truly exceeded my expectations and one of the best things I’ve done.  I’ve loved all aspects, from patrolling with my team (Patrol 6), to surf sports training and social events.  Only regret is I wish I had joined sooner.

On a lighter side

Q – Where did you grow up? (Assuming you’ve grown up)

I grew up in a little town in the Macedon Ranges Victoria and moved up to the coast 4 years ago and love it here.

Q – What’s the best job you’ve ever had?

Haven’t quite found it yet but have really enjoyed teaching people to swim.

Q – Any nicknames?

D-Dog, Darce

Q – Any Hobbies?

Guitar, Camping, Attempting to Ski Paddle

Q – Favourite Music/Musician/Band

Bit of everything, pop, country.

Q – Can you cook and what’s your favourite dish to prepare?

Not really, microwaves best things invented.  Love a good hot spicy noodle laksa.

Q – Final & Life defining Question…. Pineapple on Pizza, Yes or No??

Depends what type of pizza.  Gourmet – No.  Homemade one – Why not?

Thank you Darcy.

Not ready to become part of Coolum Surf Club but still want to help?

It takes a lot of money to run a surf lifesaving club; from the equipment needed on the beach (vehicles, boards, IRBs, first aid kits, defibrillators etc) to administration and training to facilitate patrolling.

So if you can't join us, support us through one of the following options.
