Aussie Titles 2024 - Nippers and Youth
Published: May 02, 2024 Last Updated: May 02, 2024
A team of six youth Coolum Beach SLSC representatives took part in fierce competition at the 2024 Australian Youth Championships at Maroochydore and Mooloolaba.
Maya, Patrick, Jad and Mason braved the large surf, with Jad making through the heats and into the quarterfinals for both the board and the surf swim. Maya also progressed through the heats into the quarterfinals for the surf race. Both Patrick and Mason finishing just outside the cut off in the surf race.
At Mooloolaba, Joey narrowly missed out on progressing though to the next round with one of the toughest heats of the day.
There were stunning conditions on Sunday morning at Mooloolaba for the beach runs. Patrick finished a solid 25th in his age group in the 2km beach run. The 2 x 1km beach relays were tough with the 13’s and 14’s age groups combining to form teams. Our young 13’s finishing with Patrick and Joey in 18th, and Mason and Jad in 20th.
Joey and India gave it all in flags. Jad and Mason used the 'big board' when competing back at Maroochydore in the board rescue.
All in all a successful weekend for our small team of competitors at Aussies.
Thanks to Coach Nic who was with the team the whole weekend. To Laura and Sharleen for officiating, Greg for water safety and Nicole for managing the team. And as always, the competitors families for their time, sacrifice and ongoing support.

Not ready to become part of Coolum Surf Club but still want to help?
It takes a lot of money to run a surf lifesaving club; from the equipment needed on the beach (vehicles, boards, IRBs, first aid kits, defibrillators etc) to administration and training to facilitate patrolling.
So if you can't join us, support us through one of the following options.
