New members are always welcome to join our club. Surf lifesavers come from all walks of life and anyone, at any age, can become part of the lifesaving family and be part of this long-standing tradition.
The main award that new members obtain is the 'Bronze Medallion' (Certificate II in Public Safety and Aquatic Rescue). Eligibility is subject to the following pre-requisites:
Surf Lifesaving requires anyone over the age of 18 years involved in Lifesaving Activities to apply for a "Working with Children" blue card which we will assist you with.
A standard Membership Questionnaire will accompany all volunteer patrol membership requests to be presented to the Management Committee for approval.
Please contact the club Administration office to obtain these forms.
When approved, you may book into the next available Bronze medallion course which usually involves 1 night a week and 1 day on the weekend for approximately 6-8 weeks. Find out more about this course here - Bronze Medallion Requirements
Can you still join Coolum Beach Surf Life Saving Club? YES!
Should you not be able to meet the requirements of the Bronze Medallion, there are lots other opportunities, positions, and courses available to you such as Radio Operators Certificate or First Aid Course, combined with an Observers award for you to become an active patrolling member on our beach.
