Surf Life Saving isn't just about patrolling the beach. There is also a wide range of Surf Sports for you to become involved in. These include board paddling, surf boat rowing, IRB racing and rescue competitions.

Patrolling

Volunteer Lifesavers patrol Coolum Beach on weekends and public holidays from September to April. A Patrol can include award holders of a Bronze Medallion, Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate, Advanced First Aid, Radio Operators Certificate and Surf Rescue Certificate to name a few.

Surf Sports

Many members participate in competition throughout the year to maintain their fitness and lifesaving skills.
The club competes successfully from local to national levels in various categories of Surf Sports ranging from Beach, Water and Rescue events through to Surfboats and IRBs.

Nippers

Looking for a fun summer sport where you’ll learn essential surf safety skills, gain confidence in the ocean, and meet new friends? Coolum Nippers is the answer! Open to kids from 5 to 12 yrs. Get fit, have fun, and learn how to stay safe at the beach. We’re looking forward to a brilliant, fun-filled 2018-19 season.

Help us keep Coolum Beach Safe

Since its launch in the late 1980’s the IRB (inshore rescue boat or rubber duck) has become a vital rescue tool. With its ability to quickly get through any size surf and to pick up multiple patients the IRB has become the go to piece of lifesaving equipment. At a cost of close to $20,000 for a boat and motor it is not cheap which is why the club is announcing that the target for this years 200 Club is a new IRB. ..

Summer of Surf Ocean 6 - Coming to Coolum Beach 9/10th Nov

Summer of Surf Ocean 6 is coming to Coolum Beach 9/10th Nov and we will be looking for a workforce to help out. We will be releasing a schedule of times in coming days but will require IRB drivers and crew, first aid officers, and a general workforce.

We request 4 hours minimum per shift. This will go towards competitor funding for accommodation subsidy under the Competitor and Team Support Funding Policy.

This is a great event that brings many competitors from all over Australia to our beach and we hope you can be a part of it.

Keeping it in the family

Life Member and Patrol Captain was very proud to have three generations on patrol in wet and windy conditions on Sunday morning. Dave, daughter Kate and grandkids Brendon and Avya- Marie were all on duty on Patrol Team 13 keeping the beach safe. Between them they boast over 75 years of volunteer service.
