Nipper News 4 December 2016

| Comments (0)

Hello Nippers & friends, Sunday was our second last Nippers for the year. After this Sunday we are not going to see the great hoard of Pink Clad happy bods until we return on 15 January. That makes me just a little bit sad if I am going to be completely honest.

What does cheer me up though is the thought of Nippers this coming Sunday. It will not be a normal day that is for sure – but no spoilers. Just be sure parents to come prepared to get wet.

Under 8 Parents – we are going to give you a week off set up – but still need you on the BBQ, particularly at the end when everyone is huuungggry.

Nipper of the Week

Congratulations to the Nippers of the Week for Sunday 27 November:

  • U6&7: Evie G & Mitchell H
  • U8: Estelle F & Aylah A
  • U9: Imogen B & Sam M
  • U10: Eli M & Macy B
  • U11: Tom C & Tully C
  • U12: Clay & Anya
  • U13: Zara W & Rafferty C

Remember – Nipper of the week is not a fastest on the beach award. It is an award for the nipper who shows the true spirit of a lifesaver. Courage, Commitment, Teamwork and care for their fellow nippers. We see a lot of nippers demonstrating these characteristics each and every week.

Nippers on Sunday 11 December 2016

The last Nippers for 2016. We are really looking to seeing you all on the beach. For those that remember Red Dwarf, let's have some fun, fun, fun in the Sun, Sun, Sun.

Carnival update

Nippers, keep those skills and fitness going over the break because right out of the blocks next year, on 21 & 22 January, is Sunshine Coast Branch championships for U14’s & 15s. The weekend after the U11 – 13’s go at it. From branch championships, the Nippers have a chance to represent Coolum at the state titles, and that is so cool.

Nippers during the Christmas Holidays

Keep an eye on the SMS and on next week’s Nipper Weekly News for details about training during the break.

Mid-week training

Here is the standing reminder about mid-week training.

  • Board Training: Wednesday Mornings @ 6am with Mick & Jobbo and Friday Afternoons at 4pm with Mick at the club (followed by BYO BBQ).
  • Beach Training: Wednesday afternoon at 4.30pm with Chris.
  • Swim Training: Tues mornings @ 6am at the Coolum Pool with Andrew.

NOTE: Training is suitable for all skill levels, from absolute beginner to seasoned pro.

Iron training

Each week straight after Nippers Mick is running iron training/racing at the board's area. Ask your age manager about it if you are not sure what to do or how to get involved.

Surf coaching

Keep an eye out for an SMS re whether it is on.

Uniform update

Coolum Nipper swimmers are still available for purchase in the clubhouse each and every Sunday. Keep an ear out in my announcements on Sunday morning for guidance about who to see and when.

If your nipper does not yet have a Coolum age cap or pink rash singlet come and see me on Sunday.

Feedback welcome

If you have suggestions on how we can improve, or you noticed a nipper, age manager or water safety do something awesome we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to me or any of the Nippers committee (Tracey Jackson, Emma Rahui, Erica Skuja, Sheri Ambler & James Blackmore) or send me an email at Nippers@coolumsurfclub.com.au.

See you on the beach.
