With the ongoing evolution of the COVID 19 situation all members should please note the following key points;
Patrols – as per SLSQ directive we will provide surveillance only patrols. This means the flags will not be put up, there will be signage on the beach advising people not to swim and we will have the minimum members required to provide surveillance. Your Patrol Captain will advise re the requirements. Please note if you are in a higher risk category you should not patrol and if you are unwell you should let your Patrol Captain know. Any member who is rostered to do a surveillance patrol and feels uncomfortable doing so please let your Patrol Captain know.
Gear shed – the gear shed will be closed to all members and only accessible by authorised persons for lifesaving operational reasons. We understand that this is restrictive but it is necessary to minimise exposures and manage the risks. Private surf craft that you will want to continue to use should have been removed from the gear shed
Member common areas – the member common areas, including the members amenities will remain closed on the weekends as well as during the week. The amenities outside of the Nipper gear shed will remain open.
Self-isolation and social distancing – all members should minimise the time they spend at the club for the foreseeable future (specifically members in the high risk category (i.e. over 70 or over 60 with a chronic medical condition). As per the health advisories now is the time to heed the advices, stay home as much as possible, comply with the social distancing guidelines if you do need to go out, wash your hands frequently with soap and water or sanitiser and avoid touching you face.
And above all now is the time to be kind to each other.
