As one of the most beautiful beaches on the Sunshine Coast and Queensland, it wouldn’t be hard to lose track of how long you’d spent in the sun on popular Coolum Beach.
The good people of Mosaic Property Group recently approached Coolum Beach Surf Life Saving Club to run the ‘Coolum Community Cause’ they would later donate to the club – the only catch? It had to be a fantastic idea nominated by the locals.
With the two founding Directors of Mosaic being Sunny Coast locals themselves and having two developments located in Coolum Beach only a short walk to the club, they felt the SLSC would be a worthy organisation to support – whilst also involving other keen community members.
Chris Boyle, Mosaic’s Community Engagement Manager, spends a great deal of time getting to know the neighbours of both developments, Drift by Mosaic and soon to be released, First Bay by Mosaic.
“Mosaic always commits to investing into the areas we build in long term; Coolum Beach was an extremely important location for Mosaic to demonstrate this commitment, given the passionate nature of the locals.” said Chris.
“We put out the initiative to the residents mid-2018 and loved some of the responses we received. From binoculars to view the whales to lifesaving equipment, in the end it was narrowed down to a final three for voting by the SLSC committee.”
Drum roll, please…the winning initiative was an external digital clock which displays the time and temperature. Mounted high on the balcony overlooking the pacific, all beach-goers can now benefit from knowing the exact amount of time they’ve got until their next application of 50+ sunscreen, and keep an eye on those high Queensland summer temps. Even those having a surf or swimming in the ocean can read it with the viewing range extending 200 metres plus.
The donation has also come at perfect timing, with the club currently celebrating 100 years of keeping the beach safe with volunteer patrols commencing at Coolum Beach on Easter Sunday in 1919. The clock is a fitting reflection of this great milestone, so make sure you head to the club and check it out.
