Since its launch in the late 1980’s the IRB (inshore rescue boat or rubber duck) has become a vital rescue tool. With its ability to quickly get through any size surf and to pick up multiple patients the IRB has become the go to piece of lifesaving equipment. At a cost of close to $20,000 for a boat and motor it is not cheap which is why the club is announcing that the target for this years 200 Club is a new IRB. Read More

Life Member and Patrol Captain was very proud to have three generations on patrol in wet and windy conditions on Sunday morning. Dave, daughter Kate and grandkids Brendon and Avya- Marie were all on duty on Patrol Team 13 keeping the beach safe. Between them they boast over 75 years of volunteer service.

Around fifty current and past members braved the wet conditions for the 2018 Back to Coolum Day. It was great to see members from the 50s, 60s and beyond turn up and share a story or two. On the day Fred Stokes (Club President) provided an update on the second property purchase, Ian Norman (Treasurer and Life Member) spoke about the plans for the Centenary Celebrations in 2019 andDave Cush (Life Member and Club Patron) flagged his idea for a memorial for the many club members who have had their ashes spread behind the Coolum breakers.
