For the third time in recent history, Coolum Beach SLSC have placed third in the Buhk Wilkes Lifesaving Trophy. This Trophy is awarded to the club that best demonstrates high levels of lifesaving abilities on the beach during patrol season, participation in the Surf Rescue Branch championships and corporate governance over the entire season off the beach. Points are awarded in a number of areas with the most important being four unannounced beach inspections carried out during the season where lifesavers on patrol are put through a rescue scenario along with a detailed checklist of patrol requirements based on set up, uniforms, equipment and general lifesaving knowledge.
